Semester’s End

Finals week is finally over and over the past several weeks, I have felt the pains of photography.  Color corrections, unique angles, sharpness, exposure, composition… what else?  An imagination for photography is a must and even though I’m on break now, I’ll continue shooting and doing what I love.

Tarnish Cups

I saw this old tarnish cup when I visited my Dad’s friend.  It brought me back when I was young, my dad had two candle handles that had same material made like that cup.  It always got darker by time so we had to polish it every year to make it shiny so the color of old antique handles could bunch  out.  He never spent a dime to give it to people to polish.  Me and my Dad spent hours to hours to polish with the ashes and whoah lah! my dad always kissed the handles when we done.  I didn’t kiss it like my dad.  I felt it with my fingers and I loved the color of it after we polished.  It still had antique color but it looked new at the same time.

These cups need to polish!!! I told my dad’s friend about the ashes technique.  He laughed and said he could imagine how long me and my dad polished to make it shiny.

Oh Yay Photography!!!

This quote reminds me about a year ago.  “ Which of my photographs is my favorite? The one I’m going to take tomorrow. – Imogen Cunningham.  If I didn’t take my chance to be in the photography program, I think I would be in the lab looking at bacteria and virus right now.  Oh Yay! photography!!! too tough for me to carry the camera around and taking pictures.  I’m not used to be outside on a raining day, extreme cold weather or sweat like shower in the sun.  I wish my mom let me outside more when I was young so I can get used with the changing of the weather ;(

Basket

It’s always suck when we have assignments to do and outside raining from day, to next day and up to several days.  So, the last option for me to do was to shoot inside the house.  The basket right front of my door was the first thing that caught my eyes ;)

Caterpillar

I used my kit lens to shoot this.  Not too bad, I think! it was 53mm at 5.6, ISO 400 and 60 sec.  Manual focus!

Pots

I went to the Farmers Market in Snellville that they had several boots in the small open area.  I shot some of the vegetables and produce, but the handmade pots really caught my eye.  So, I went there to buy a bouquet of sunflowers and shot two shots of those pots lol.  I think they came out very well with a black and white treatment.

Boats

I saw these old boats while on the way to Lake Lanier for final four project last semester.  My topic was about new boats and the landscapes. But I shot these old, rusted boats anyway because there was so much depth and textures in the rusted metal.  It’s amazing how time and the elements can tear these big machines apart.

Chairs

I went there on a rainy day.  I thought I couldn’t get any good shots from it but surprisingly they turned out good.  I love the shadows on the chairs and the light from the entrance as it streaked from the corner and created mystery for the whole scene.

The Park

I took these pics in summer.  I was sweating bad in the sun and walked around the park for 2 1/2 hours.  I shot a lot but just few pics turned out the best.  I think the sun fried my eyes a bit because I had to take so many pictures.  ;)

Children are too cute

My teacher said when you go to the football field, don’t look at the game and make sure you look at the people around you and you will find always something interesting.   Therefore, I did and I found out children were always cute.
